Old faithful done in with 280,000 miles

A few idiots can ruin it for everyone... Steve was driving home from work, and after stopping to wait for a train, he got smacked from behind by someone who wasn't paying attention. It was so forceful that he hit the car in front of him, and they in turn hit the next vehicle. Then the guy took off before anyone got his license plate! He likely has no insurance and we don't have full coverage on our good old Honda, so we might be out quite a few thousand too, plus a vehicle. It still ran like a charm and we got new tires last week, so it's sad to let it go.

So sorry to hear that! Thankful though Steve wasn't hurt. Will you be able to get along with out that car?

Yes, we're hoping that there won't be any long-term injuries. He did bang up his knees pretty badly and he already had trouble with them before since he has a stand-up job. He's commuting with the van and I'll just do without a vehicle until we get a new one.

Wow, too bad, least Steve's not too badly hurt, bummer about the car though. Now your stuck, doesn't Steve have a truck?

Yes he has a truck, but it's a gas hog and it's just too expensive to drive these days with his long commute. I find it difficult to park and I don't feel like I have enough control of it to drive it safely. The gas pedal is so touchy that I really scared a pedestrian when it went faster than I intended it too.

That really too bad, Steve and Laurie! Hope Steve's feeling better soon, and maybe that you'll catch that guy :S
