I guess she figured now that she's growing up, it's time to start walking. She stands quite well, and has taken a few steps.

Jenn, Bobby & I took off for two days for a kid-free weekend, a much-needed and enjoyed break from regular life! We did tons of back-to-school shopping for the kids (3 Value Villages, 1 Goodwill, Ross & TJ Max), walking around the mall, a movie, a wonderful night at the hotel, and Kubota Gardens in Seattle.

A guy from church cut down two big cedars for us, right behind the house. It was quite impressive (and a little scary) to see how he did it, trimming off the limbs as he went up and then cutting off approx. 15-ft. sections at a time, all in just 2½ hours. Now we have our work cut out for us, with lots of cleaning up and log-splitting, and a massive group of 3 stumps to work out of the ground and burn. Eventually we'll have a better view and less of a hill behind our house, especially if Steve borrow's John's equipment to trim some more trees himself.

Hey looks like you had a funn time,
Who was it who cut down the tree?
Because from the back it looks alot like my Brother-In-Law Tim.
It's John K. from the extended family that's been coming to our church... his wife is Erinee (sp?) and they have a little boy named Andrew.
One question: How did the man climb down the tree after cutting away his ladder? :)
I liked the panorama (nice editing, btw), and seeing some pictures of you too! :)
He climbed the tree with spiked shoe thingies (??) and holding a cable wound around the tree, and he cut off the limbs as he ascended. Then he cut off the sections of the tree as he descended. Quite an art, and it looks physically demanding too... we learned a lot by watching and Steve's going to try trimming some big trees on the slope with his equipment. The most dangerous part was felling big sections of the trunk while still on the tree, and Steve wouldn't be doing that, thankfully :)
great family picture Laurie Happy belated Jenna a big one year old:) it goes by so fast love the cement looks great looks like you had a fun girl weekend mom always need those see ya soon;)
Nice pictures Laurie! Thanks! By the way, how do you plan on having less of a hill in your backyard? Is this the "mustard seed principle of faith" at work?
ok i know who your talking about now thx
We were wondering the same thing as Matt. He would need to cut only once, wouldn't he? Ha! Ha!
Dad and Mom
Ya, we should have videoed it because it was neat to watch. We didn't want to make him nervous though, because they really were big trees :)
About the mustard seed, ha ha... (I don't know why I didn't see that comment until now?) The tree stumps are pretty much sticking way out of the ground level on both sides... once they are loosened and removed we can see through that spot. Basically, YOU HAVE TO COME HERE TO SEE THEM!! ;)
